On the surface, Anders Göransson’s workdays might seem calm – filled with computers, blueprints and planning. But behind the scenes, he is the linchpin of some of Elektromontage’s most complex control system projects, destined for remote gas fields across the globe. His job demands an ability to see the bigger picture – and to master the finer details.
When Anders first joined Elektromontage, the company was barely 20 years old. Now, 35 years later, he’s a project manager and a key figure in one of the company’s largest business areas: control systems for gas turbines.
“I started out as a panel assembler and gradually grew into the role of project manager. For me, it’s always been important to see the whole picture and be involved from start to finish,” says Anders Göransson.
Today, Anders mainly works with one of Elektromontage’s largest clients, a gas turbine manufacturer. Elektromontage builds control and distribution panels for their turbines, which are then shipped to remote gas fields around the world – often in Asia. Anders is involved throughout the entire process, from quotation to delivery.
“There’s a lot of variety in this job. One day I’m planning schedules, the next I’m troubleshooting a production issue or discussing design changes with the client. That’s what makes the job enjoyable – it’s never routine,” he explains.
Experience that matters
Anders’ background in panel assembly gives him a practical understanding of what works in real-world scenarios. That hands-on experience is invaluable in his current role.
“It’s not uncommon to find discrepancies between the drawings and reality. I can quickly assess whether we can adjust internally or need to take it back to the client. That saves both time and money,” Anders says.
As a project manager, he’s also in charge of monitoring budgets, timelines and deliveries. This often means close coordination with purchasing teams – both at Elektromontage and on the client side – to chase delayed materials or revise schedules.
Freedom, responsibility and short decision paths
Anders describes Elektromontage as a workplace where you’re trusted to plan your day and make your own decisions. There are clear guidelines and deadlines – but how you get there is largely up to you.
“Of course, there are days when you have to throw the whole plan out the window when something unexpected happens. But I like that. Problem-solving is fun,” he says.
He also highlights the company’s flat organisational structure as a strength:
“You have easy access to everyone – from technician to CEO. If you need a quick decision, you just ask. It’s unpretentious and efficient.”
A dream project of his own
Over the course of 35 years, Anders has seen the company evolve – from working on property installations to high-tech projects in power generation and marine automation. But one thing has remained the same: Elektromontage always builds for someone else.
“It would be exciting to one day develop our own product. Creating something entirely from scratch – that would be fantastic,” Anders says with a smile.
