After 17 years at Elektromontage, Linda Dahlén has become an indispensable part of the company. She started out working in the warehouse, and has since not only grown with the company – she has helped shape it.
Linda began her journey at Elektromontage in logistics, materials preparation, and handling bookings. A few years in, she took on the role of Material Supply Coordinator, a position that goes well beyond traditional purchasing.
Today, Linda is responsible for supplier relations, quotations, and also serves as the acting team leader for Elektromontage’s procurement and logistics department. No two days are ever the same – and that’s exactly what drives her.
“It’s the problem-solving that I enjoy the most. When a delivery is at risk of being delayed and we manage to turn it around, that’s when you really feel it in your whole body. It’s challenging, but that’s also what makes the job so rewarding,” says Linda Dahlén.
Like many others at Elektromontage, Linda has a passion for continuous improvement. She is part of the company’s steering group, driving process development and smarter working methods, always with the goal of making her colleagues’ day-to-day work easier.
“The best part is that we do it together. The culture here is so inclusive and supportive. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the CEO or a technician, we’re all working towards the same goal and everyone’s contribution is equally valued,” Linda Dahlén adds.
International projects in a Swedish countryside setting
The collaborative atmosphere is one of the reasons Linda enjoys her job so much. Another is the location – Söderköping.
The town is a lush and peaceful idyll, beloved by its residents. The gently flowing canal and many beautiful historic buildings make the presence of history tangible in everyday life.
According to Linda, the location of the town is also perfect: close to one of Sweden’s most scenic archipelagos and only 15 minutes from the urban pulse of Norrköping. She also finds plenty of excitement at work, since Elektromontage exports its products globally.
“I moved to Söderköping for the tranquillity and closeness to nature, and at the same time found an exciting career at Elektromontage. Being able to cycle to work, drop off the kids in a safe environment and still be part of a global project in Saudi Arabia, that’s pretty unique,” says Linda Dahlén.
A commitment to continuous improvement
When Linda joined Elektromontage in 2008, she restructured the workflow and refined it over the years – a structure that still stands strong today. Her persistence, high work ethic, and drive for change are felt throughout the organisation.
“You need a certain amount of stubbornness – or a bit of 'foolishness' as a colleague jokingly put it – to manage material supply at a company like Elektromontage. We’re juggling a lot, but I love it,” says Linda Dahlén.
Most orders run smoothly, but it’s the small percentage that cause issues that occupy most of her time. That could mean anything from sourcing a reliable distributor for a new component that streamlines production, to chasing suppliers across time zones – for instance, in the US, where contact isn’t possible until four in the afternoon.
“But what’s most fulfilling is being able to help someone else. Seeing a colleague feel grateful and relieved when they receive a component just in time – that’s what really makes the day worthwhile,” Linda Dahlén explains.
Even after 17 years at Elektromontage, Linda’s ambitions haven’t stopped. She’s recently worked with the company’s production site in Lithuania, which has sparked new dreams.
“To build up an entirely new production site abroad – somewhere in the world, from the ground up – that would be amazing,” says Linda Dahlén.
